The second gameweek even more established the thought that I’ve missed with my best on budget midfielders. Moreover, after Emile Smith-Rowe was subbed after 57 minutes, I left him on the bench. After Nkunku, while his team scored 6 goals, earned only 1 point. Below is the disappointed number of points.
Son, Palmer, Saka, Salah all delivered double-digit points so I decided to go through Wildcard phase after the next gameweek. I know some call it impatience, but I do it most of the seasons. After the start of the season it is more clear who is expected to play in each team, whereas in the middle of the season only occasional changes happen.
However, in general I think FPL is outdated as a game. It started in the classic English football era, where most games played 4-4-2. It seemed logical, that in Fantasy the player selects one extra footballer in each line. However, now most teams play 4-5-1 and some, like Liverpool starting even without a fantasy formation of 4-6-0. Consequently, there is a much wider choice of midfielders, and very shallow of forwards.
To confirm this I have the following statistics: In first 2 gameweeks only 10 forwards have scored more than 10 points. In contrast whole 25 midfielders have score over 10 points. So we can choose roughly 5 midfielders out of 25 and 3 forwards out of 10, while one has a double price. This limits the player’s “fantasy”, while it’s a word from the game title.
Complaints, complaints, complaints. But for now acceptance and the only way up after the wildcard.
